Rødhaj - Katzenhaie - catshark

Do you dare pat a shark on its head?

Perhaps it sounds a bit intense, but we assure you that our sharks are quite harmless – the lesser spotted dogfish (or small-spotted catshark) is the smallest shark in Danish waters!

The lesser spotted dogfish in JyllandsAkvariet are used to being patted, and many of them approach our guests willingly hoping to be scratched on the back.

Our own breeding programme

We have for many years been breeding our own lesser spotted dogfish, and you have the opportunity to see them in all stages from eggs to adults.

In the exhibition you can also find a wide variety of shark’s teeth, shark’s jaws and other interesting things from sharks and whales.
